Yarn Art Yarn
Yarn Art yarn comes from Turkey, and this page brings the brand's entire range together: knitting and crochet yarns as well as thick knitted cords. Customers often search for it as Yarn Art wool, but actual wool accounts for only part of the range, with acrylic and cotton making up most of it. Each range has its own fibre content, ball weight and length, and its shades differ only in colour, so choose the range first and the colour afterwards. Familiar ranges include Jeans, Rose Garden, Marshmallow, Flowers and Dolce. Find other brands in the Knitting Yarn category.
Which Yarn Art range suits your project?
The ranges differ mainly in material and thickness. This overview covers eight distinct types and lists the weight and length of one ball for each.
| Range | Material and ball | Suitable projects |
|---|---|---|
| Jeans | cotton and acrylic, 50 g / 160 m | summer tops, crocheted toys |
| Flowers, Rose Garden | cotton blend or pure cotton, 250 g / 1000 m | shawls and light tops with colour gradients |
| Marshmallow | knitted cord, 750 g / 30 m | hand-knitted blankets and cushions |
| Dolce | micropolyester, 100 g / 120 m | soft blankets and plush toys |
| Tulip | micropolyester, 50 g / 250 m | fine crochet |
| Forza Solid | wool and polyamide, 100 g / 420 m | socks |
| Imperial Merino | merino, 50 g / 100 m | hats and scarves |
| Ribbon | cotton, viscose and polyester ribbon, 250 g / 125 m | bags and baskets |
The Jeans range also has related yarns. Jeans Plus has a ball twice as heavy for the same length (100 g / 160 m), making it roughly twice as thick, while Jeans Bamboo combines acrylic with bamboo.
How does length tell you the thickness of Yarn Art yarn?
The thickness of Yarn Art yarn is indicated by its length when compared at the same weight. Super Perlee has 400 metres per 100 g and a recommended needle size of 3 mm. Ribbon has just 125 metres in a 250 g ball and is knitted on 10 mm needles. The fewer metres per 100 g, the thicker the yarn and the faster your project grows.
The large Flowers and Rose Garden balls have 1000 metres, so one is usually enough for a shawl. With Imperial Merino, which has 100 metres per 50 g, you need to allow for several balls for a hat. You'll find the recommended knitting needle and crochet hook sizes in the product specifications.
Which Yarn Art ranges are for summer and which for winter?
Flowers, Rose Garden, Pearl and Violet are intended for spring and summer. They use cotton and viscose, which feel comfortable against the skin even in warm weather; the mercerised cotton in the Violet range also has a subtle sheen. Pearl is made from viscose, and its ball weighs 90 g and contains 270 metres.
Wool-containing ranges suit autumn and winter: Forza Solid, Imperial Merino and Merino De Luxe 50, which blends wool with acrylic. Alpine Alpaca adds alpaca and is knitted on thick 9 mm needles, so a warm jumper or scarf is finished sooner. If the material interests you more than the brand, also compare cotton yarn and wool yarn from other manufacturers.
