The Housemartins were an English indie rock band from Hull, active during the 1980s. Known for blending catchy melodies with lyrics that combined socialist ideals and Christian themes, they found UK chart success with three top-ten albums and six top-twenty singles. Their a cappella cover of "Caravan of Love" reached number one in 1986. After disbanding in 1988, members went on to further success, with Paul Heaton and Dave Hemingway forming the Beautiful South, and Norman Cook achieving international fame as Fatboy Slim.
