Seasick Steve, born Steven Gene Wold in 1951, is an American blues musician known for his raw, heartfelt songs and his use of personalized guitars. Drawing inspiration from his early years spent doing casual jobs, his music captures a gritty, authentic blues style. Before finding wider fame, he spent decades working as a musician and recording engineer across the US and Europe, playing in bands like Shanti and Crystal Grass, and even producing for artists such as Modest Mouse. Seasick Steve gained major attention in the UK after appearing on Jools Holland’s Hootenanny in 2006, and has since released several successful albums, including I Started Out with Nothin and I Still Got Most of It Left, Man from Another Time, and Sonic Soul Surfer.
