Mouthpieces for Woodwind Instruments

Mouthpieces for the saxophone and clarinet were initially made of wood but later, rubber was brought into use. The mouthpiece, like the reed, determines the quality of the saxophone or clarinet tone. A reed is placed in the mouthpiece using a ligature.
