I started using these speakers as a space-saving solution for my PC and I wasn't very enthusiastic, I'm more of a non-hipster analytical sound (I was bothered by the strong higher bass and suppressed mids, I couldn't understand much of the spoken word, but I thought, for that money and in that size, what would you want, and you came across the word "studio monitors". Then I made a few adjustments and I'm quite satisfied - I put a lot of books on them, almost at ear height, I plugged the bass reflexes, used a stronger speaker cable and set an equalizer on the sound card output (added lower bass 50-60Hz - quite enough and at the same time, just to make them at least audible, I reduced the wider upper bass depending on the room, I added quite a wide mids about 280Hz-3.5kHz with a peak at 1kHz, reduced 10-12kHz a little and added 16kHz a little. Now I think about them "home monitors" could be called quite good. The bass is of course their biggest problem, but at this price and size it's acceptable. I quite enjoy listening to them at medium volume. I've heard speakers that cost twice as much play much louder. I don't like the switch on the back and the volume potentiometer that started rattling after a short time. It's nice to have an aux and headphone output, both on the front. If they were in the PC monitor category, I would give them almost full marks, but in the studio monitor category the demands should be higher.
