Karel Plíhal, born on August 23, 1958 in Přerov, is a renowned Czech folk and jazz musician, singer, songwriter, and producer. After studying engineering, he began his music career in Olomouc's underground bands, eventually launching his solo work in 1983. Known for his poetic lyrics and skilled guitar playing, he has won multiple Porta folk music awards and released acclaimed albums, including a live recording from his hometown. Plíhal has also composed music for theatrical productions and worked as a producer for leading Czech artists. He appeared as himself in the film Year of the Devil.
