Guitar Cleaning Kits bring together what your guitar needs for routine maintenance in one pack: a finish cleaner and polish, fretboard oil or conditioner, string cleaner and a cloth. On this page, you'll find kits from Dunlop, MusicNomad, D'Addario, Fender, Ernie Ball, Taylor, Ibanez and other brands. Some cover the whole instrument from the finish to the strings, while others focus on one area, such as the frets or strings. They are suitable for acoustic and electric guitars, and many are also suitable for bass guitars.

What do Guitar Cleaning Kits contain?

• Complete kits – Dunlop 6504 System 65 Guitar Tech Kit contains Formula 65 polish and cleaner, lemon oil for the fretboard, a string care product, 2 cloths and a string winder. Fender Custom shop 4-step cleaning kit includes one bottle of each product from Custom Shop: Cleaner, Polish, Quick Clean and Fingerboard Remedy. Ernie Ball Instrument Care brings together string cleaner, polish, fretboard conditioner and a microfibre cloth.
• Kits for the finish and fretboard – Dunlop 6502 combines Formula 65 polish, Fretboard 65 Ultimate Lemon Oil and two cloths. Dunlop 6501 contains Formula 65 and Bodygloss 65 Cream of Carnauba wax. MusicNomad MN140 Premium Guitar Care Kit includes Guitar ONE with carnauba wax, F-ONE fretboard oil and a 30 × 30 cm microfibre cloth.
• Kits for frets and strings – MusicNomad MN124 FRINE Fret Polish kit contains fret polishing paste, fretboard guards and a microfibre cloth. MusicNomad MN145 Premium String Care Kit cleans and lubricates strings with String Fuel and an applicator that covers all the strings at once.

Which kit should you choose for your finish and fretboard?

For gloss and matt finishes, the choice of care product matters. Taylor Essentials Pack comes in two versions: Gloss Finish for guitars with a gloss finish and Satin Finish for satin finishes. Alongside a spray and a microfibre cloth, each version includes a strap and a tin of picks. According to the manufacturer, Fender Custom Shop care products are suitable for all finishes, including nitrocellulose.

An unfinished rosewood or ebony fretboard needs oil. MusicNomad MN125 F-ONE Unfinished Fretboard Care Kit is designed for this purpose, and F-ONE oil contains no lemon oil, waxes or silicone. If you want lemon oil for your fretboard, choose Dunlop 6502. Dunlop GA60 Silicone Free Care Kit is silicone-free: the intensive cleaner removes fingerprints and grease, while the coconut oil conditions the wood.
