Yesterday I played it in the shop, I have to say that I have never seen such a piece before, Unbelievable sound, I compared it first with a Fender Jazz bass Aerodyne, surprisingly Squier won, I didn't believe it myself. Then I compared it with some Fender Jazz bass USA had there (price about 1200€ I saw), I almost dropped out. I can feel the quality of the wood from the American Fender, but this Squier literally gave me pause. It comes out sounding more lively and energetic than the American Fender! Even when the Squier has the reputation it has, I've only encountered a more hearty bass from Mr. Sivchak. Solid Thick sound in the lower end, Magical Characteristic Jazz bass sound from the 60's in the higher end, I can say that the sound of the bass is literally identical to the Red Hot Chili Peppers album STADIUM ARCADIUM. One thing I find unnecessary there, and that is the "Fingerrest", If I owned it I would immediately reassemble it and probably replace the whole pickguard (I think there would be screw holes left) The neck is Beautifully Smooth, Pleasant to Play, Very Comfortable to play even in the highest Positions. In person it is about 10 times more handsome than in this Picture. As for the electronics, Lots of Options (Only Musicman has more Contrasts, I guess) These are Some Basic Contrasts That I've been able to find: Sound Similar to Precision Bass : Potentiometer Controlling the Sensor at the Neck - Full Potentiometer Controlling the Sensor at the Pedal - Roughly 1/4 Tone Potentiometer : Full "Jaco Pastorius" style sound Potentiometer Controlling the Sensor at the Neck - Off Potentiometer Controlling the Sensor at the Pedal - Full Tone Potentiometer : Full Tone Potentiometer : Full To sum up My Experience, It's a Really Magical Bass, Awesome for Beginners, but after Comparing it to the aforementioned Fenders, I can also say that if it didn't have the Squier branding that most Advanced Guitar/Bass players hammer for, I guess Every Third Bass player would have it in their rig. Yet in my experience, the Squier Vintage Modified Jazz bass is on a similar level, but they paid attention to the chunky woods rather than the mechanics..
