Dinosaur Jr. is an influential American rock band formed in Amherst, Massachusetts, in 1984. Founded by J Mascis, Lou Barlow, and Murph, the group quickly became known for their blend of classic rock influences, powerful guitar work, and Mascis's distinctive vocals. After releasing three independent albums, they helped shape the sound of American alternative rock. Internal tensions led to lineup changes, with Mascis remaining the constant driving force. The band disbanded in 1997 but reunited its original lineup in 2005, continuing to release new music and perform. Dinosaur Jr.’s energetic sound and use of feedback and distortion made a lasting impact on alternative and indie rock.
