Deacon Blue is a Scottish pop rock band from Glasgow, formed in 1985. The group features vocalists Ricky Ross and Lorraine McIntosh, drummer Dougie Vipond, guitarist Gregor Philp, and bassist Lewis Gordon. Over their career, Deacon Blue has achieved more than seven million album sales, twelve UK top forty singles, and two number one albums in both the UK and Scotland. Their debut, Raintown, was released in 1987 to strong critical and commercial response, followed by the chart-topping When the World Knows Your Name in 1989, which included their hit single Real Gone Kid. After briefly splitting in the mid-nineties, the band reunited and continued to release new music, including popular albums such as The Hipsters, A New House, Believers, City of Love, and Riding on the Tide of Love. In 2024, Deacon Blue released Late 88 as the lead single for their upcoming eleventh album The Great Western Road, further cementing their legacy as one of Scotland’s most celebrated bands.
