Cult of Luna is a Swedish post-metal band formed in Umeå in 1998. Known for their atmospheric and expansive sound, they draw comparisons to bands like Neurosis and Isis. After early releases on Earache Records, including the acclaimed albums Salvation and Somewhere Along the Highway, the band experienced a brief hiatus before returning with Vertikal and Vertikal II, works influenced by the film Metropolis. In 2016, they released Mariner, a space-themed collaboration with vocalist Julie Christmas.
