Rahim Claude Redcar, born Héloïse Adélaïde Letissier in 1988, is a French singer and songwriter best known as Christine and the Queens. Raised in Nantes and trained on piano from a young age, Redcar later found inspiration in London’s club scene. Beginning his career with a series of EPs, he achieved widespread acclaim with the debut album Chaleur humaine in 2014, which became a commercial and critical success in France and the UK. His 2018 follow-up album, Chris, garnered several album of the year accolades and featured widely recognized songs such as Girlfriend. In 2020, after the passing of his mother, Redcar released the EP La vita nuova, earning further praise for its emotional depth. Subsequent albums include Redcar les adorables étoiles and Paranoia Angels True Love, followed by the more dance-oriented Hopecore in 2024. Redcar has been celebrated as an influential cultural figure, topping Vanity Fair’s list of most influential French people and being recognized by Forbes and Time. A recipient of four Victoires de la Musique awards, Christine and the Queens has been signed to Because Music since 2012.
