Our engineers employed an array of high-quality microphones to capture every nuance, ensuring both direct and ambient signals are pristine. The kick drum was recorded in both dampened and fully open configurations, utilizing an Oktava MK220 inside and a Neumann TLM 103 outside. Both snare drums were captured with and without wires, using an Avantone CK-1 on top and a Røde NT5 condenser mic underneath. SE Electronics 3 microphones were strategically placed on the toms to naturally pick up snare wires, providing a cohesive kit sound, with the option to bypass for a cleaner timbre. The Istanbul cymbals were flawlessly recorded using a pair of AKG C451Bs as overheads.

For ambient textures, BFD Jazz Noir incorporates a pair of Golden Age Project R1 microphones for room ambiance, an AEA R84 ribbon mic for a mono room perspective, and a special "trash mix" channel designed to add unique saturation and grit to your drum tracks.
