Belinda Carlisle

Belinda Jo Carlisle, born August 17, 1958, is an American singer and songwriter best known as the lead vocalist of the Go-Go's, one of the most successful all-female rock bands. Raised in Southern California, she co-founded the Go-Go's in 1978, and their debut album Beauty and the Beat became a major force in popularizing new wave music in the United States. Following the Go-Go's initial breakup in 1985, Carlisle achieved international success as a solo artist with hits like Heaven Is a Place on Earth, Mad About You, and Circle in the Sand. The Go-Go's reunited in 1999, performing together until 2022, with Carlisle continuing her solo work. Her memoir, Lips Unsealed, was a New York Times Best Seller. Carlisle and the Go-Go's have received major honors, including a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and induction into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the California Hall of Fame.
