Antibalas is a Brooklyn-based afrobeat band formed in 1998 by Martín Perna. Drawing influence from Fela Kuti's Africa 70 and Eddie Palmieri's Harlem River Drive Orchestra, the group blends the rhythms and structures of afrobeat with elements of jazz, funk, dub, and traditional Cuban and West African drumming. Their energetic performances and innovative sound have made them a key force in the modern afrobeat movement.
