Against Me is an American punk rock band founded in 1997 by singer and guitarist Laura Jane Grace in Naples, Florida, before relocating to Gainesville. The band gained recognition for their energetic sound and politically charged lyrics, releasing three albums on independent labels before signing with Sire Records for 2007's New Wave, which marked their mainstream breakthrough. Laura Jane Grace came out as a trans woman in 2012, a milestone reflected in the acclaimed 2014 album Transgender Dysphoria Blues. Known for their passionate performances and evolving lineup, Against Me released their seventh album Shape Shift with Me in 2016. After longtime member Andrew Seward rejoined in 2018, the band entered an indefinite hiatus following the COVID-19 pandemic.
