I have mixed feelings about this pedal, but I can't give it a good rating even though I basically recommend it. I don't know if Yamaha changed the manufacturing process or the setup, because I see a lot of videos on youtube where they play fast stuff with ease on the pedal and in conjunction with the compact Yamaha DD75s and the pedal responds well. However, I have such an experience with two KU100s (I returned one for this reason): I did not hear the pedal at all, only when I stomped on it with all my strength did the kick sound. On more expensive electric drums with a better module, I assume there are possibilities to adjust the sensitivity, a compact like the DD75 does not have this for the kick drum. I connected it via MIDI with Ableton Live - EZ Drummer and suddenly I noticed that something was jumping on the input. A terribly weak response. Then I read the forums, and in one I read that there are two resistors on the piezo sensor in the pedal and that it might help to remove one, so I desoldered it. The response was immediately about 30-40% better and even through the DD75 I caught the kick even without pressing the pedal with all my strength. However, the reaction to quick two strikes is still weak. This is perhaps also due to the string, which is relatively "soft", although I can't say that the pedal returns to its original position somehow badly or extra slowly. When I took it all apart, I found out that the piezo is stuck under the metal plate, and a thick piece of foam that you hit with the pedal transmits the blow to it. I find the reaction too weak. In firm shoes, I was able to get a faster response from the kick "button" on the DD75 when playing. Anyway, the body of the pedal is robust, well-made, and the principle is very similar to playing on a pedal. I would be interested in someone's experience with the DD75 (65.55) and this pedal, and also experience with the more expensive electric set. drums. As for the hi-hat, I love the HH65 and can recommend this pedal 100%.
