The maple-wenge-maple hybrid shell, combined with 3.0 mm aluminum die-cast hoops and hook lugs, creates an instrument that responds accurately to every stroke and follows every nuance in dynamics and touch.

Hybrid Shell Construction

The 6.2 mm shell consists of maple outer plies with a wenge center ply — a very hard and heavy wood native to Africa. This hybrid design combines the clarity of maple with the low-end richness and overtone complexity of wenge, producing a musically full tone regardless of how softly or powerfully the drum is played.

Vintage Natural Interior Finish

The shell interior is coated with Yamaha's exclusive "Vintage Natural" finish, which enhances the natural resonance of the hybrid shell for improved tone quality and refined aesthetics.
