A First Album for the Youngest Timpanists

Dětské hřiště pro začínajícího tympánistu s klavírním doprovodem gathers five short, programmatic pieces for timpani and piano, written for children and teenagers just starting on the instrument. The author avoids advanced techniques, and each piece's difficulty can be adjusted by tempo. Published by Bärenreiter Praha in 2019, the album pairs every piece with online mp3 recordings in two versions — piano with timpani, and piano only — so beginners can practise the play-along method and learn to read notation while hearing the music as a whole.

Who This Album Suits

Ideal for first-year timpani students and music school beginners. The five programmatic titles — Houpačky, Štěně, Prolézačka, Kolotoč, and Honěná — turn each piece into a miniature scene, making the score approachable for children while still giving teenagers a satisfying first repertoire.
