Melvins are an American rock band that started in 1983 in Montesano, Washington. Their early music played a significant role in shaping grunge and sludge metal. Usually performing as a trio, they sometimes appear as a quartet with two drummers or two bassists. Since 1984, Buzz Osborne and Dale Crover have remained the core members.
