Sonáta pro lesní roh a klavír op. 2 — First Printed Edition
The Sonáta pro lesní roh a klavír op. 2 by Miloslav Kabeláč (1908–1979) appears here in its first-ever printed edition, prepared by editors Pavel Kordík and Annini Tsioutis. Composed in 1935–1936 and premiered at Prague's Smetana Museum on 28 January 1938, this single-movement, roughly twelve-minute work exposes the dramatic, virtuosic potential of the solo horn. The edition contains score and parts in a sewn 34-page format, with trilingual commentary in Czech, English and German.
Why Performers Choose This Edition
Previously unpublished and long forgotten, the work was rediscovered by pianist Robert Kolinsky and Berlin Philharmonic principal horn Stefan Dohr, who recorded it for Capriccio in 2024. The Bärenreiter Praha edition (catalogue H 8061) gives performers a reliable score of a significant twentieth-century horn repertoire addition.
