A Faithful Software Recreation of a Legendary 1970s Console
The Metric Halo MBSI brings the sound of a custom MCI console from Criteria Studios in Miami into any DAW. Producer Bill Szymczyk, who made Hotel California on this console, calls MBSI a sonic recreation of his all-time favorite analog board; the desk was also used on records by the Bee Gees and Eric Clapton. It captures the analog "box tone" of the original channel and runs as AU, VST2, VST3 or AAX on macOS 10.10+ and as VST or AAX on Windows 7+.
Two Modes, One Iconic Sound
Classic Mode replicates the original stepped controls exactly as they behaved on the 1970s hardware. Modern Mode adds a continuous-knob compressor with the character of an 1176 and dbx 160, plus mid-band cuts and simultaneous high and low cut filters.
Who Is It For
Ideal for mix engineers and producers who want the warmth of a classic console without vintage hardware, the MBSI works well on rock, pop, and soul productions. Simple presets help beginners get started, while tolerance and randomization controls give experienced engineers finer control. The perpetual iLok license includes two activations, and an iLok dongle is optional.
