Formant Filter

The Orb is an innovative formant filter plugin designed to emulate the unique characteristics of the human voice. With its trio of band pass filters, The Orb can transform any sound into a vowel-like, formant-filtered experience.

Utilizing three LFOs, users can modulate various parameters including:

• Vowel: Select and modify the vowel sound.
• Emphasis/Resonance: Adjust the resonance for each formant.
• Drift: Shift the frequencies of each formant up or down.

Additionally, The Orb allows for the creation of custom vowel sets by modifying the name and frequency of each vowel/formant.

The Orb Interface

Each section of the orb corresponds to a specific vowel. Users can easily change the vowel for each sector by clicking on the vowel name. The distance from the center of the orb to the dot indicates the level of emphasis (resonance) applied to each formant filter, while the angle within each sector represents the drift value in Hz that will be added or subtracted from each vowel formant.

Custom Vowels

By clicking the Edit button in the Vowels section, users can access the Custom Vowels window, where they can modify the name and frequency for the three formants. Each custom vowel set is saved within a preset or DAW session, allowing for the creation of multiple unique vowel sets by saving them as new presets. The default set aligns with the Male genre settings.
