Dexys, originally known as Dexys Midnight Runners, are an English pop rock band from Birmingham with strong soul influences. They gained major success in the early 1980s with hits like Geno and Come On Eileen, both reaching number one on the UK charts, with Come On Eileen also topping the US Billboard Hot 100. The group is closely linked to the Second British Invasion due to their MTV popularity. Led by singer and songwriter Kevin Rowland, Dexys experienced many lineup changes, but Rowland remained at the core throughout the band’s history. After breaking up in 1987, the band reformed in 2003 and went on to release new albums in 2012 and 2016.
