Built Layer by Layer

A convincing crash sound is constructed from multiple layers, including impact, resonance, debris, and structural settling. ROAD RAGE captures each element as a clean, isolated sound across various materials such as glass, metal, plastic, and rubber, enabling you to create crashes that align precisely with the action.

Recording Phases

The library features three distinct recording phases, each designed to capture different aspects of sound dynamics: studio sessions for clean, isolated components; scrapyard sessions utilizing heavy equipment for impactful sounds; and crane drops to provide the highest-energy material available.

Two Perspectives, One Take

Major impacts are recorded from multiple simultaneous positions, including exterior M/S and A/B stereo, Ambisonic interior capture, and contact microphones on vehicle surfaces. This ensures that collisions are captured from both outside and inside the car, providing a comprehensive sound experience.

Designed for Game Audio

With physics-driven destruction systems in mind, ROAD RAGE offers hundreds of distinct, addressable elements. Its component structure, UCS-tagged metadata, and detailed categories make it easy to adapt individual sounds to game engine triggers, whether for a low-speed scrape or a high-speed barrier impact.

Material by Material Organization

The Construction Kit is organized into six main categories based on material and vehicle components:

• Glass and car parts for break, debris, and shatter events
• Metal for panel impacts, hood hits, scrapes, and friction across major body sections
• Plastic and carbon sounds for cracking and rattling under stress
• Structural elements including door flex, body rolls, and frame resonance
• Environmental contact surfaces like dirt, grass, ice, and road signs
• Mechanical details covering interior rattles, component stress, and tire friction, including tire screeches and burnouts recorded on location.

Multi-Position Capture

Many events are captured from multiple mic positions, including exterior M/S and A/B configurations, interior Ambisonic (AmbiX) capture, and contact microphones on vehicle surfaces. This allows for the same event to be experienced from different perspectives, ensuring acoustic consistency between wide exterior shots and tight interior sequences.

Designed Edition

The Designed edition includes 90 pre-assembled crash sequences across six car types, two truck types, and two motorcycle types. Each event type, such as head-on collisions and rollovers, is available in both exterior and interior versions, ensuring a seamless transition between perspectives. The truck sequences provide heavier vehicle dynamics, while the motorcycle sequences add agility and lighter dynamics to the collection.

Assembled from the Construction Kit

Every Designed sequence is constructed from the same elements found in the Construction Kit. These sequences are not separately produced but are layered compositions showcasing one possible assembly for each event type. Editors can use these pre-assembled options for quick integration, while sound designers can access the components for customization.
