Audio-Technica AT8033 Studio Condenser Microphone

The AT8033 is a cardioid condenser microphone suited for a wide range of studio and stage applications including acoustic instrument recording, overhead miking, and vocal spot-miking. Its extended frequency response and consistent cardioid pattern make it a versatile workhorse condenser for engineers who need a reliable, accurate microphone across diverse recording scenarios without committing to a specialist design.

Extended Frequency Response

With a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz, the AT8033 captures the full harmonic content of acoustic guitars, pianos, orchestral instruments, and vocals. A gentle high-frequency presence rise adds clarity and definition to recorded sources without introducing harshness, making the AT8033 useful as both a close microphone and an ambient room microphone.

Low Self-Noise and High SPL

Low self-noise makes the AT8033 suitable for quiet acoustic sources where signal detail is important, while the maximum SPL rating of 137 dB (with pad) accommodates drums, brass, and loud amplifiers without capsule overload. A switchable 80 Hz high-pass filter helps manage low-frequency buildup from stage vibration and proximity effect.

Phantom Power and Standard XLR

Operating on 48V phantom power with standard XLR output, the AT8033 integrates directly into any professional studio or live sound chain. The included shock mount reduces mechanical noise from stand vibration, and the standard thread accepts boom arm adapters for flexible placement around instruments.
